Valentine Cow

Ifyou look close at all the markings on this cow you’ll notice they arehearts…perfect for a Valentine but it also will work for the everydaycard.

Iused Copic markers to color the images: cow – 100,110,C7, C2,1,0,00, R81,83,flowers - E25,27, Y35,38, grass and stems and leaves – G07,09,28

The clouds were created with a sponge and my hand cut template. If you’d like to cut your own template here’s a direct link to my blog post with the pattern. I did a drag motion starting on the template and dragging off onto thecardstock. It’s such a quick way to adda sky to the scene.

Ifyou look at the cow image linked below you’ll notice there are just stems inthe mouth, I used a stamp positioner to aid in stamping on the blooms. I masked off the rubber image to ink up justthe bloom I wanted to stamp.

Copic markers were used to color the image: G28,29,82, V12,15,19,Y13,17,19,35,38, B0000,000,00

The tiny gems are attached using Aleene’s Paper Glaze foradhesive.

The black border design is EK Success - Arch Scallop and lines wereembossed above the punched border with the Scor-Pal.

The tiny orchid borders are 1/16” strips glued to the card.

For the out of the box feature I cut to the image with the papercutter and then used a Stampin Up corner rounder on the left corner and used apunched piece of cardstock as a pattern to draw a pencil line and hand cut theright corner.

Acrylic Block Watercolor

This particular watercolor paper used on the card has the fine linen weave, it's the first set of photos you'll see below in the paper examples for the technique.

Instructions for the arcylic block watercolor are below in this post.

The flower image was heat embossed.

The butterflies were attached with Aleene's tacky glue.

The sentiment was computer generated using Microsoft Word 2010.
I used thePerfect Layers tools from PerfectPaper Crafting to cut the even layers. If you purchase the tool use roxie5%and get a discount.

For the envelope I masked off an area and stamped mutlitple times using the multi colored ink and acrylic block, no water was used. I then stamped the image in black and used the Scor-Pal to scor double lines along the inked area and going through the stamped area.

THE TECHNIQUE INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS

I didn't follow a technique for my acrylic watercolor procedure so here are my directions.

To create the background ink up an acrylic block larger than the card panel using a Big and Juicy stamp pad for ink (it’s about 5 x7 with multiple ink colors), if you don't have this type of ink pad I suggest using the brayer and slightly overlaping the colors on the block for blending.

Mist the inked up block heavily with water then place the block on top of the watercolor paper panel and let it set for about five seconds. Seperate the block from the paper and use a paper towel to blot excess water off the panel, you do not want it to pool in one area and dry.

This photo will show how heavy to mist the block for the first step, you really want to see the drops (the more the water the lighter the color will be when it drys):

Next wipe the ink and water off the block and ink up a second time and mist very lightly holding the bottle at least two feet away from the block. No large beads of water should show on the block, if you get a few it’ll add a watermark which you can see in the first photo below in the comparison of papers (look for the watermark in the lightest area of the first set of photos). If you don’t want these watermarks touch a paper towel to the bead of water to absorb it from the block before stamping.

If stamping on your watercolor panel let it dry first and you can speed up the drying process with your heat gun/tool.
The fun of this technique is that you never know what you’ll get and it’s fun to watch the paper change as the color absorbs. Keep in mind that each paper texture will have different results; here's three.

Butterfly

-Acrylicwatercolor technique for the background panel: I ink up the acrylic block andspray it heavily with water, place the watercolor paper panel on the block andlet it absorb the water and it’ll give the paper the light multi colored lookwhen it dries. Remember the more thewater the lighter the color will be.

-Cleanoff the acrylic block.

-Thesecond step is to ink up the acrylic block and mist it lightly holding thespray bottle about two feet from the block. Lie the same panel on the block again and let it absorb the little bitof moisture for a deeper colored ink pattern.

-Differenttextures of watercolor paper will give different results.

Scor-Pal was used to add the double embossed lines to the watercolor panel and the fauxbrads were cut with the Tiny Tags die from Cuttlebug, I punch a ¼” circle andplace it over the hole of the tag to cut. These are attached to the card usinga stick pin dipped in Aleene’s Paper Glaze then touched to the back of thecircle cut out to pick it up and it’s then placed on the card, I press downwith the finger and pull the pin away then slide the cut out into place ifneeded.

Thebutterfly image was colored with Copic markers YR09,07,04, Y38,35, along theedge BV08,04,02, on the body C2.

Thebutterfly was embossed using a metal ball stylus and folded paper towel.

Stickleswas applied to the butterfly edge and body.

Nestabilitieswere used to cut and emboss the sentiment panel.

Valentine Moose

Eureka Stampshas a quite a few big moose images and I find them not only amusing to look atbut fun to color. I used Copic markersto color this one.

Iused the Perfect Layers tools from Perfect Paper Crafting to cut the even layers and the Perfect Square works greatfor the out of the box image.

Aftercutting the out of the box image I used a Marvy black marker to color the veryedge of the cardstock.

StampinUp mat pack and Bazzill piercer were used to place the brad holes. I believe the brads are from Darcie, but notpositive.

On the insert I cut a strip of designer paper and about a 1/8" strip of cardstock and glued them to the paper with Aleene's tacky glue. I did the same for the envelope but cut red paper in place of cardstock. I used an EK Success punch for the hearts and also glued them on.

Flower Tools

I’vebeen playing with different flower tools using the same card design with a fewchanges in embossing pattern and flower centers.

The top panels were popped up with foam tape.
The first two flowers are cut from an unknown cardstock and they were attached to the card with a thick carpet tape that was layered a couple times.
And the leaves on the first two cards were cut from Stampin Up paper and glued to the card with Aleene's tacky glue.
The white cardstock on all three is also an unknown company name, a print shop donated this fine quality CS for our charity work.
Scor-Pal was used for all three card's scor lines above the embossing and also on the insert and envelope.
The rounded corner punch is from EK Success.
The sentiment stap is from Hero Arts.

This is a Sizzix daisy die from Stampin Up.

The pieces are glued together using Aleene's tacky glue.

The flower center is the largest cut out that the die makes when cutting the flower and it was dry embossed using the Bloom Dots folder from Cuttlebug.

The D'vine Swirls embossing folder is from Cuttlebug.

Oh yeah, when you mess up the sentiment stamping, just plop the flower over it and stamp the other side, a perfect fix!

This flower is an EK Success punch.

The button is a double layer of cardstock using a Sizzix die for cutting. I sewed the holes and taped the ends to the back of the button and it's glued to the card with Aleene's tacky glue.

The embossing folder Seeing Spots is from Cuttlebug.

This is my favorite of the three and I used pink vellum for the larger petals and white for the smaller petals.
The unknownvellum flower die is from Spellbinder Shapeabilities.
Theleaves die is from Sizzix purchased through Stampin Up, attached with Aleene’sPaper Glaze.
The Houndstoothembossing folder is from Cuttlebug.
Thescor lines above the embossing are created with the Scor-Pal and a metal ballstylus.
Thebutton is a ¾” Cuttlebug circle die which I laid over a Sizzix button die tocreate the holes and it’s embossed with the Perfectly Paisley folder fromCuttlebug.
Allthe flower layers were glued together and to the card panel using Aleene’sPaper Glaze and I punched 1/16” holes through the remaining layers afterattaching the button to the flower then sewed by hand with a thick crewelthread through all layers to make sure the flower is secure to the panel.

Photographing My Card

Patti J. asked if I use a light box to photograph my cards so I thought I’d show you my set up. I got tired of fighting the weather and daylight for photographs of cards so I asked my husband to do a search for a simple small light box…he informed they are tents…whatever, just something easy to store away when I’m done…well, that part of the message got lost in the delivery. When the box came I just thought they packed it really well…nope, the lights are that big!

The tent and accessories all came folded up in the circle pouch you'll see below and when this tent popped up to full size…I was thinking ‘what am I going to do with this HUGE thing?’ The A2 (4.25 x 5.5”) size card gives you a better idea of the size. But it worked out well, I put the never used card table in the spare closet and rearranged the small shelves to hold the lights on each side and it was perfect.

I set the camera on a notebook filled with bubble wrap so it's easy to move.

The thick acetate you see on the left is inserted in the envelope if it doesn't lie flat.

The scissors on the left are handy in case a goofy corner on an envelope needs a trim.

This photo shows all the accessories.

Thetent sits on a can goods box about 3” high to create a solid smooth surface. It came with a black (lying in the tent) and a white velour cloth (hanging on the tent's back)that clips at the top of the tent but I prefer one piece of cardstock lyingflat and one leaned up against the back for photographing my cards and I changecolors according to the card. There is aflap that zips onto the opening and the cameralens fits in the opening, this is to minimize and reflect light (I think) but Inever use it.

Sothis is my set up from Smith Victor and when my husband needs to take a photo of an item to sell online, it’s the perfect tent for him too. I believe the cost was around a hundreddollars. I've been using it for about three years and never changed a light blub.

Ialso work with setting in my ACDSee photo program to lighten or darken, sharpenthe detail and resize so that also helps with showing off my creations. The light tent isn’t the full answer to agood photo but it sure helps.

Yellow Rose

I used theCuttlebug negative effect embossingtechnique for the green panel. Ink up the smooth side of the folder and emboss. Dye based inks clean up without any staining to the folder.

For the lineembossing done on the yellow I used the Scor-Pal and it’s punched with theMartha Stewart border punch Floral Lace.

Iused this card from Lisa Lara’s gallery on Splitcoaststampers, she was the Queen For the Day this week. I pretty much cased her card with a fewchanges. She has such a nice gallery toget inspired by! And this is the firsttime I’ve uploaded a card using this tree that I bought last summer, used it oncebut never uploaded the card.

I punched the 1/8”hearts using a Fiskars punch then touch the tip of a stick pin in glue and thentouched the back of the heart and placed it on the card, pressed down with thefinger and pulled away. It took aboutfive minutes to place all the hearts I used.

I did the faux stitching using aRanger clear ruler with a piercing guide and Bazzill piercer then with a Marvyblack fine tip marker I added the faux stitches.

Cuttlebugand embossing folder was used to emboss the hearts and this was done on thecard front panel, insert and envelope.

The cute bear image is named Twitterpated which comes in both rubber and as a digital image. I also used the digital image All My Love.

Mudd Puddles Picture Frame

Ibought a dollar store frame with a flat surface, sanded it to rough the finishon the front and sides and it was ready to add the Mudd Puddles.

FirstI created a crescent moon by cutting a circle from clear acetate and thencutting a section out of the circle. Iuse Nestabilities for my cutting tool.

Oncecut out I applied the Snow Beach color to the acetate and used my spreadingknife and fingers to form the sides and covered it with glitter while it waswet and set it aside.

Forthe frame you’ll need to replace the glass with a heavy cardboard or acetate soit has a smooth solid surface to work the Mudd Puddles up against.

Nowit’s ready to smear on the Black Diamonds Mudd Puddles and once I had some onthe frame I fit the moon up against the black. A little Aleene’s Paper Glazewas used to hold the moon in place and the Mudd Puddles will secure it oncedried.

Thestars are just pushed into the sandy product while it’s wet and they aresecured in place by the glue when dry.

Forthe sides of the frame I used a Sharpie marker to color it black and I left theback the color it was when I bought it.

Flower in Vase

This was supposed to be a quick card and it would be if someone else made it...first I messed up the embossing on the vase and had to cut a new one. Then I messed up the sentiment and had to cut a new panel and last I measured carefully and got all the panels even from the edge but after I added my glue (I use tape and glue) they were crooked and I had to pull them off...I don't have OCD except when it comes to making cards, then it has to be perfect! But trust me if you do it, I'm sure it will be a quick card!

Sunflower

To honor Judy for the Queen for the Day challenge on Splitcoaststampers I used my daisy die from Sizzix, it was because of Judy’s card here that I went on a hunt to find the die which was discontinued and I had topurchase a 'lot of items' on eBay to get it and if I remember correctly she sentme the eBay link. I also had the same polka dot paper and worked that in on my card. Judy’s gallery is alwaysa joy to view!

The flower was cut using a Sizzix die, cut full once and thatpiece was cut in half then a partial piece was cut. The petals were ink distressed and embossedusing a metal ball stylus and folded paper towel for cushion.

The flower center is created with a 1 ¼” EK Success punch andbordered using a Nestabilities die, cut in half and all the flower pieces were gluedtogether then to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue. The leaves are a die from the large ShapeabilitiesSunflowers die.

The strip across the card was cut on my paper cutter then I usedthe Iused the Perfect Layers tools from Perfect PaperCrafting to cut the even borders using a craft knife as my cutting tool.

Scor-Palwas used to scor the lines across the narrow panel and also on each side of thesentiment on the card base.

The border punch is from MarthaStewart.

Ladybugs, Hearts and Daisies

The ladybugs were stamped and colored with Copic markers.

The tiny hearts were punched out and glued to the card.

The daisies are packaged precut images that I glued to the card with Aleene's tacky glue and then added Stickles to the center.

A Martha Stewart punch was used for the borders then I embossedtwo lines using the Scor-Pal before adding the image panel with black border.

For the envelope I cut a strip of cardstock, stamped the ladybugs andcolored, attached to the card and ran a line of black along the edge using aMarvy fine tip marker. It is alsoembossed using the Scor-Pal.

For the insert I scored double lines along each edge.

Silhouettes

The circles are cut using Nestabilities. I cut the smaller circle out of a piece ofscrap paper to create a mask for sponging on the color for my scene thenstamped on the silhouettes.

The piercing around the circle was done with Bazzill template andpiercer.

The ribbon is wrapped to the back and taped using single sided tape.

The butterflies are Cherry Lynn dies and they are glued to thecard with Aleene’s tacky glue.

Here’s a nice quick and cute card which will work great for Valentine's Day or all year long for the animal lovers in your life.

I colored the zebras with some French Grey Prismacolor pencils and cutthem out of the box. The out of the box portion was colored on the edge of the cardstock with a Marvy black marker to hide the light colored cardstock.

The grass is a Martha Stewart punch double layered and each wasslightly ink distressed with Ranger Distress Ink – Pine Needle and glued to thecard with Aleene’s tacky glue.

The sentiment is a digi. Stampin Up word window and a QuicKutz die were used for the layers and Idid cut the die down the center and trim some off each side and taped backtogether to create a smaller panel. Theyare glued together and to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue.

All the borders are popped up on the black base with foam tape.

Stickles was applied to all flower centers on the card front only.

The daisies on the narrow panel are precut and packaged withassorted sized from K&Company. They arealso popped up with foam between layers and on the bottom layers but I removedthat foam and glued to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue to cut down the bulk.

Bouquet of Flowers

Nancy put some new imgaes on her Esty store site and this is one of them, great for all occasion and nice for Valentines, weddings and showers too.

Copic markers were used to color the image.

The buttons are cut with a punch and double layered then I runthem through the Cuttlebug to emboss them and they are stitched to the panel.

The lace is wrapped around to the back and secured with singlesided tape then the entire panel with border is raised with foam tape.

Ranger tea dye ink was used to distress all the layers but brownand also on the insert.

The flourish on the embossed area was created by first embossingwith a Cuttlebug mini folder from the set Iron Works and ink distressed. Then I embossed using the Stampin Up SquareLattice folder. This folder often leavesthe cardstock with a warped look so I apply heat with my heat embossing tooland as you can see it puts it back into shape. I learned this on my own when the same thing happened to thin cardstockand mini folder and you could actually see the cardstock shrink back down to anormal shape.

The image was colored with Prismacolor pencil and baby oil wasused for blending. Shading around image – Ginger Root 1084, Eye – Jasmine 1012,Cheetah fur – Light Umber 941, Dark Brown 946, Terra Cotta 744, Cream 914

Nestabilities was used to cut the image panel and first border,paper cutter for the other two.

Three Pink Flowers

Today on Splitcoaststampers Miss Boo/Jen was honored in the Queen for the Day challenge and I played by using a layout from this card from her SCS gallery and replaced her pumpkins with flowers.

This is a real simple card using a Hero Arts flower which I colored with Copic markers, cut out and embossedwith the metal ball stylus and used a folded paper towel for cushion. I also colored the very edge of the cardstockwith a Marvy black marker and they are popped up with thick tape layered acouple times and Stickles was added to the center.

The bottom half was embossed using a Cuttlebug folder and Scor-Palfor the lines going across the panel.

Butterfly and Lace

To create the background on the base I first ink distress theedges, placed the sticky note punched leaves and butterflies masks along theborder of the card, inked up with VersaMark and covered the panel with clearembossing powder, removed the masks and heat set the powder. The punches are from Martha Stewart.

The sentiment was computer generated, I use my photo program andfirst worked the word birthday and placed it, then did the same withhappy. This way I can use two differentfonts and sizes together. I try to sizethe canvas to the size of the card panel when working in the photo program.

Ink distressing was done pink and designer paper.

The butterfly was colored with Copic markers. I debossed areas on the front with a metalball stylus, flipped it over and embossed with the stylus changing ball sizeaccording to the size of the area being embossed. I used a folded paper towel for cushion.

Sticky tape was applied to the body of the butterfly and clearmicro mini beads were poured on and pressed into the tape.

The antennae is made of wire and held on by a very sticky tapewhich I layered and mounted the butterfly on.

This image is cut from a larger background image; it’s anothernice way to use the stamp.

The ribbon is weaved through the lace and both are wrapped to theback of the panel and taped down.

The buttons are from an EK Success button punch which I alsoembossed using Cuttlebug folders then ink distressed and sewed to the panelwhich also held the lace in place.

The designer paper with pink border is mounted on foam tape.

The stick pins are beaded straight pens and I attached two clearbeads and one pearl, you can use a number of glues to hold them on but I preferAleene’s Paper Glaze.

Silhouettes

I used a cloud template to sponge on the sky and put the ink onheavy. When I got down to the area yousee as pink I placed a piece of torn paper across the panel before sponging thelast strip of sky. I then reversed thepapers and continued to sponging with pink. Another piece of torn paper was placed across the bottom to sponge onthe black, then I stamped on the silhouette images.

Butterflies: Martha Stewart punch, I scored wing lines on thefront, flip it over and embossed using a metal ball stylus and folded papertowel for cushion and avoided the lines and edges. They are glued to the card with Aleene’stacky glue.

I used a plastic stipple brush to add the speckles on thebackground layers and did the same inside and on the envelope.

Paper piercing was done along the edge of the light blue panelgoing across the card using Tim Holts ruler and Bazzill piercer.

EK Success punch was used to punched the white flower center

The butterflies were colored with Copic markers: R43,46,59,Y23,35,38, C3

The butterflies were cut out, embossed by lying the image on afolded paper towel and making circles with a large metal ball stylus within thewings area and then the body with a very small ball. I like the dimension it gives the image. They are glued to the card with Aleene’stacky glue.

The embossing on the two white panels are done with Stampin Upembossing folders, the center/narrow maroon panel is Tim Holtz.

Other tools used are Nestabilities for the scalloped circles, EKSuccess flower punches and a Cuttlebug Asterisk die for the center circles, StampinUp word window for punching out the sentiment.

The circles are raised using foam tape.

Artsy Flower

The image was colored with Copic markers.

The out of the box feature I marked the image on the backwhile holding to a light source then used the paper cutter to cut to that mark. Scissorcut the image out. I used a Coluzzle and craft knife to cut the sides. I dohave a pictorial if you need photos in the right side bar under pictorials.

Stampin Up oval punches were usedfor the sentiment.

Both the sentiment and image panelsare popped up with foam tape.

The Faux brads are circles from atag Cuttlebug die cut that I glue to the card then apply Aleene’s Paper Glazefor a shiny finish. I use the CB diebecause it rounds the edges like a real brad. These are very easy to pick up with a straight pin dipped in glue thentouch the back of the circle and it’ll pick it up, now place it on the card bypressing down with the finger – it will allow you to move if needed before theglue dries.

Trinket Dish using Mudd Puddles

Mudd Puddles is sand, rock or sea glass in glue that sticks tight once it’s dryand it is flexible too. The colors used are in bold type.

Iapplied it with the frosting knife that you can buy from the company.

Iused an empty tape roll which is a sturdy chipboard cylinder for the box sidesand cut a sturdy piece of cardboard for the bottom using Nestabilities as mycutting tool. I used repositional tape to hold the bottom to the sides while Iran a large strip of Aleene’s tacky glue around the inside bottom edge to holdthe two together permanently. I thencovered the sides of the box with a heavy white cardstock so the top blue seaglass would stand out more and I used the same glue with lots of coverage.

Thenit was time to start adding the Mudd Puddles. I used a pencil to mark wavylines around the box as a guide and the top section which is Surf Sea Glasswent on first and I let all layers dried before I added the next color. I only covered the side, nothing over the rimof the box at this time.

Thesecond section from the top is Ocean Water and I marked off three areas to addthe color Snow Beach which acts as sea foam at the water’s edge.

Thelast section is Malibu Beach and I pressed the shell buttons with the shanksremoved into the Mudd Puddles before it dried and they are stuck tight once theproduct is dry.

Mylast step was to cover the rim of the box using the Surf Sea Glass again.

Snow Scene Circle Tags

These are so easy, I heat embossed the image, cut out and dryembossed with Nestabilites. Two pieceswere cut with a smaller die for the back, one was attached to the front paneland I did this to help even out the cardstock after heat embossing, the otherwas scored and folded and attached above the fold with Aleene’s tacky glue tothe front so it stands open like a normal card.

The image is 4.25 inches across, I’m going to use them as gifttags but they could be used as a round card also.

Mooy Christmas

Aleene's tacky glue was used to attach the Flower Soft Polar White to the fur on the hat.

Thebackground sky was heat embossed with a sparkle white embossing powder fromCrafts Essentials. This formed my resistand I sponged with Ranger Distress Ink – Stormy Sky using my cloudtemplate. I secured the cardstock andtemplate and sponged on the ink dragging away from the template.

Thesnow is torn cardstock layered with Stickles applied to the torn edge.

Themoon was punched with a 1 1/16” circle punch from Marvy and since I decidedafter the punch was made that I wanted a crescent moon I stuck the circle to apost it note and let it act as my handle to get it into the punching area.

Thetrees are cut from a hunter green and brownish grey cardstock for the twolarger sizes and the truck is cut off the green and layered over the othercolor. The smallest tree on the leftside is one layer of green trimmed down; the one layer also helps createdistance.

Thetrees, moon and cow are attached with Aleene’s tacky glue.

Winter Scene

Theimage was colored with Copic markers but I didn’t keep track of the colorsthis…hope I won’t need it later!

Forthe snow I covered the area with a sparkle gel pen which looked to silver to meso I went over the top with a white gel pen and it’s nice because the sparklestill shows through in areas.

Thestars are cut from DCWV sparkle cardstock using the Snowflakes die fromCuttlebug and they are glued to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue. The easy way I line them up is to use theHero Zero rule which has the 0 in the center and the same numbers on each side,so I line up the center star even with the 0 and if the right one is placed at½” from the 0 then the left goes at the same ½” distance.

Ialso find it easiest to line them up upside down on the card, touch a stick pinto glue and then touch the back of the star which picks it up. Flip it over, press down with your finger andpull the pin away. This technique ofattaching them will only took about two minutes once you start the gluingprocess.

Thestriped cross panel is sticker ribbon that I found at a dollar store and theblue is my faux borders; I cut a 1/16” wide strip and glue it to the card.

Ialso pierced the ribbon tape.

Thescalloped edge is cut with Spellbinder Nestabilities.

Thesnowflakes are cut with a Marvy punch.

Theimage panel with borders is popped up with foam tape.

Sculpted Santa Clauses

I’mshowing you some ornaments I made over ten years ago using modeling clay. It comes in a variety of colors and I stillhave some of this product that I bought back then and it’s soft, it hardenswhen you bake it.

Allthe colors that you see are the actual color of the clay or two or more colorsare blended with much kneading to form a new color, such as red and white tocreate the pink in the cheeks.

Awire is pushed in into the clay before baking for hanging.

Curled Beard

Forthe beard on this style I cut the strips of the clay and flatten it narrowingat the tip and curling the up by rolling the clay with the fingers similar tomaking cinnamon rolls. A fine tip stylus was used to create texture in the hatfur and eyebrows. The flowers are tinypieces of the clay pressed into the white clay.

ThinBeard

For thisbeard the clay the pressed through a garlic press, it’s much more delicate andtakes a bit longer to create but I really like the finished look. For the hat fur the clay was cut bunchedtogether then cut off and the clump was pressed into the hat clay. The more realistic face took longer to createon this one too.

TwistedBeard

The thinstrips of clay were created with the garlic press and three stands were groupedtogether at the end and twisted. It’sthen pressed into the face. The styluswas used to form the hat fur and lines at the corner of the eye. The holly and leaf were sculpted with thefingers and stylus for leaf lines.

Icolored the image with Copic markers: Ice B0000,000,00, bear C00,0,2,3, R20,foot pads C00,3,5,7, penguin black 110, YR12,15,31 C00.

The image panel and borders aremounted with foam tape.

The snowflakes are a Marvy punch forthe larger and EK Success border punch for the smaller one. I cut a strip about ½” wide and slip it underthe snowflake in the punch to save on paper when the tiny flake is all I wantanyway. They are attached to each otherwith Aleene’s tacky glue and then to the card. I then used a paper piercer to put a whole through for the tiny bradcenter and the prongs are between the designer paper and the base.

I used the thin embossing folderfrom the set With Love (Cuttlebug) and a metal ball stylus to emboss the dotsgoing across the card base. This avoidsthose nasty lines created when running through the machine…not as quick but awhole lot prettier!

Old World Santa

SwissDots from Cuttlebug was used for the base embossing.

MarthaStewart punches were used for the larger/bottom layer of the snowflakes,Cuttlebug Snowflakes die for the smaller flakes and stars. Aleene’s Paper Glaze was used to attach thestars because it’s a plastic finish cardstock; their tacky glue was used toattach the regular cardstock flakes to the card panel.

Aleene’sPaper Glaza was also used to give the holly berries on hood dimension and Itouched each one with a Copic marker after it dried to add color.

Poinsettia

Copicmarkers were used to color the poinsettia: R81,83,85,89, Y17,19, G82 on theberries, BG10 for shading on the insert.

Itouched the tip of the R85 marker to R89 to create a darker area on the leaves.

Aleene’sPaper Glaze was applied to the berries. I also used the glaze to attach the pearls.

Thepoinsettia was embossed on the leaves that would higher on the plant in reallife to give dimension. I do this byoutlining with a metal ball stylus on the front of the image, flip it over andemboss with a larger ball. I use afolded paper towel for cushion.

Stickleswas added to the designer paper lines and snowflake centers.

Holiday Tags

One of the Monday challenges at Splitcoaststampers was to create tags and here is three I got done today.

TheChristmas tree: Stampin Up Sanded was stamped on the top layer using CreamyCaramel ink and piercing was done with the mat pack. Beate has a great tutorialfound [url=http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/paperpiercing/]here [/url] which explains the method of piercing on a curve.

Inkdistressing with Ranger Vintage Photo distress ink was done on all layers anddie cuts.

Thetree is a die cut from Quickutz which was ink distressed before gluing to thecard with Aleene’s tacky glue. Thesnowflake is from Cuttlebug and also glued to the card. The to and from words are from Hero Arts andMemento – Tuxedo black was used to stamp it.

Snowflakes:The two larger snowflakes are from Spellbinder Shapeabilities and if you fitall the dies on one piece of cardstock it sure cuts down on cutting time. Thesmaller snowflake is a combo of Cuttlebug Snowflakes die, Marvy punch and EKSuccess border punch. They were allstacked and pierced if needed and the brad inserted and holding the snowflakesto the card through the red glitter cardstock only. The flourishes are one glittered and precutchip board which I attached with Paper Glaze.

Snowman: the snowman is form with Mudd Puddles and a gold embossing plate. The plate is temporarily secured to thecardstock, MP is applied in the openings, raise the plate straight up and setit aside to dry.

I then used Aleene’s tacky glue to attach Flower Soft tothe face. Prismacolor pencils were used for filling in the background

Thepolka dots is sticky ribbon on a roll and the snowflakes are stamped in betweenthe two strips.

Thestamps used are All Night Media snowflake, Stampin Up Simple Plaid

Thenailheads are attached with Aleene’s Paper Glaze, this was also used to attachthe stars to the plastic coated glitter cardstock and tacky glue was used tolayer the snowflakes and attach to the card.

The insertand envelope were embossed using the Cuttlebug folder Snowflakes and I thenscored two lines along the edge of the embossing with the Scor-Pal.

A Chillin’ Holiday

Thesky was created by heat embossing the snowflakes with a solid white mixed withglitter powder then I used my hand made cloud template to sponge on the areabetween the clouds and I did this with a dragging motion starting on thetemplate and pulling off. I have apattern posted on my blog linked below in the right side bar if you’d like tomake your own template.

Thesnow is torn cardstock which is matching on both sides so with one tear I flipone over and create the two larger slopes then added a smaller layer at thebottom and stamped on the sentiment and added the stacked snowflakes usingtacky glue.

Lion Head

Thebackground is created with Ranger Alcohol Inks: Butterscotch and Rust. I cut a circle of felt using my Nestabilities,attached to my Velcro block and inked up then did a circular motion on the cardfor the sun, applied the same color to the entire panel. Next I used a piece of felt cut about ½” wideand pulled the rust color over the top of the butterscotch then repeated thesun which helped create the dark outside edge.

Thelion image was colored with Copics: (E25,31,33,35,37,40,42) then attached tothe card with foam squares.

Thesmall nailheads were attached using Aleene’s Paper Glaze for adhesive. I touch a stick pin to the glaze then to theback of the nailhead which picks it up, place it on the card, press down withthe finger and pull away then slide into place if needed.

The imagewas stamped on the envelope and insert using Stampin Up’s Going Gray ink.

Thewater was created with watercolor pencils and Signo gel pen for the white.

Thewater drops were created with Aleene’s Paper Glaze.

Copicmarkers were used to color the fish and it glued to the panel at the tail andpopped up with foam tape towards the head.

Thefly was stamp on the card then stamped again and cut out minus the hook andmounted over the first image. Thefeather was glued to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue.

EKSuccess Brackett punch was used for the border and a Tonic paper perforator wasused to distress the opposite edge.

TimHoltz clear ruler and Bazzill piercer were used to create the pierced borderson the image panel.

Fall Wreath

Theimage was colored with Copic markers: pomegranate – E07,08,09,R29,46,59, leaves– E95,97,99, E31,35 over the top, wreath W1,3,5,7, E21,44,47, shading – C00,0,1, and E40,42…this was done overthe entire white space of the background heavier in some spots.

The bowis paper pieced and built up in layers to create dimension.

TheThanksgiving is cut from a piece of K&Company designer paper, mounted oncardstock to add dimension.

Thecorner tabs are cut with the Iron Eagle punch from EK Success and glued to thecard with Aleene’s tacky glue, these are the negative pieces we normally throwaway.

Paperpiercing was done around the edge of the image panel.

The imagepanel with borders was mounted on foam squares.

Little Angels

Iget to hand deliver this one so I went big on the bow which is not my norm!

Theimage was colored with Copic markers: dresses – R81,83 RV00, shading – B00,B0000, wings – V12, blender, skin - E00,11,21, R20, hair – YR23, Y23,33, cloudsshading – C00,0

Aftercoloring the image I used Aleene’s Paper Glaze as an adhesive to hold on theGlitter Ritz on the star halo, wings and cloud puffs.

Nestabilitieswere used to cut the circle openings then I used both punches for the sentimentand two black layers and Nestabilities again for the pink layer. The sentiment with black border is popped upwith foam tape over the pink panel.

Scrolland Dots punch from EK Success was used to punch the pink border and I helpedsecure it to the card with tiny dots of Aleene’s tacky glue. I also used that glue to attach all the tinystars which are cut from the Cuttlebug die Snowflakes. I lay them out on the card upside to get themin position then touch a stick pin to the glue then to the back of the starwhich picks it up, flip it over and press down with the finger and pull away,you’ll have time to slide it into place if needed.

Totie the bow I used one piece of ribbon and made that first tie then clamped itwith my repurposed suture tool to hold it tight (which my daughter found in herused vehicle and was going to throw them out), continued with the bow andremoved the tool. What a great find,it’s like having a third hand…I know some tweezers tools will also lock.

Theimage panel was also popped up with foam tape.

Iused the little angels on each end to stamp on the envelope and insert. After inking up the image I used a wet wipeto remove the unwanted ink before stamping.

Afterthe cutting the image out I went around the very edge of the cardstock with aMarvy marker and it’s popped up with foam squares.

I used a little snow person from QKR Stampede named Bundled Up, a fun image to work with.

This is my first project using Mudd Puddles - Snow which adds nice dimension and texture to projects using a frosting knife for application and it’s very easy to work with.

Copic markers were used to color the image panel: boots – C2,3,5,7, jeans – B21,32,34,49,97,99, face – R20, E00,02, mittens – B95,97,99, hair – E21,25, scarf – B000,00, 04, sweater B91,93, hat – C00,0,1,2,3, sky – B0000,91, C00,1 and blender

The snowflakes are a combo of a Martha Stewart punch and a Cuttlebug die glued together and a Oriental Trading brad was used for the center.

The small black brads are from Reminisce.

Christmas Stocking

The image is a digi that you get for free by playing along in a the The Outlawz Creative Freebie Challenge. You'll have to joing the site. They also have an ornament and poinsettia arrangement...all three are free just for playing and you get more next week if you play the challenge and link up. This image is designed by S. Huggett.

I used Copic markers to color the image. Poinsettia – R48,59, center – Y35,38, Yr15, Leaves – G82,94,99, Shading on the stocking – C00,0, outside the stocking – B0000,000

The snowflakes are Martha Stewart for the larger two and Cuttlebug Snowflakes die for the smaller and the stars are on the same die. They are all attached with Aleene's tacky glue.

The Flower Soft Polar White for the stocking was attached with Aleene's tacky glue

The pearls are attached with Aleene's Paper Glaze and I squeeze out a drop of it onto non porous paper like what stickers/labels come on and touch a stick pin to the glaze then to the back of the pearl and it picks it up. Place on the card panel, press down with the finger and pull away. Slide into place is needed.

I chose to work with a Thanksgiving sentiments for the blog hop and May Your Thanksgiving fit perfecting with the Fall Frame image.

I hand cut the image out leaving a small white border then attached it to the rust border and black borders, wrapped and tied the baker’s twine around the panels and popped all three layers up with foam squares. It was a quick and easy card to create.

Gold Leaf Acorn Accent

For this regal looking masculine card I used gold leaf (GLRG Red and Gold Gold Leaf) from QKR Stampede to give their Acorn Accent color.

I used VersaMark as the ink poured on the Sticky Powder (look the right of the page) and heated just enough to make the white disappear and this became my adhesive. Spread the gold leaf over the image and press down then us use a brush (I used a toothbrush) to remove the gold leaf from the open areas. A very easy process and it gives a nice rich look to the card.

For the background panel I cut two colors the same size and taped them together on the back side then run it through the Cuttlebug to emboss with the Fleur Dis Lis embossing folder attached the border layer then added the brads.

I used Prismacolor pencils to color the small detailed image. Colors are listed below.

Sponging with Ranger’s Distress Ink Antique linen was done on the white panels to tone color down and Tea Dye was done on all layers but the heritage red.

The corner photo tab was created using the negative portion of the EK Success Iron Eagle punch. It’s glued to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue and Paper Glaze was added to create a shiny raised finish.

Snowball Snowman

Tools used: Nestabilites – regular ovals, Cuttlebug Candy Cane Stripe embossing folder and Snowflakes die for snowflakes and stars, EK Success buckle punch.

The snowflakes and stars were attached with Aleene’s tacky glue.

The buckle was covered with Aleene’s Paper Glaze to create a raised shine finish.

The snowball was covered with Scribbles – Shiny White 3D paint, You could also make this a big cookie if you have some cookie monsters to send to.

The oval was mounted on foam squares.

Big Bass

Copics: fish - W0,1,3, RV00, C00,0, YR31, YG61, rocks – YG61,63,67, E33, water – B0000,000,00, fishing fly – Y35, YR32, E29, B21,29 and the blender for bubbles that don’t show up well in the photo.

The fish and fly were cut out and I used a black marker around the cardstock edge to hide the white. The fly is attached directly to the cardstock with Aleene’s tacky glue. The fish is stamped on the image panel and stamped a second time and cut out then popped up with layered thick carpet tape. Since I popped up the entire panel with the borders I kept both thin to avoid bulk.

The silver nailheads were attached with Aleene’s Paper Glaze.

Too Many Cookies

Santa had too many cookies and he’s having a hard time making it down the chimney.

Sakura silver gel pen for the buckle

Santa’s nose and mustache were embossed to add dimension. He is mounted to the card with foam tape.

Because the paper has a shiny coating I used Aleene’s Paper Glaze to attach the chip board flourishes and also for the black nailheads.

Aleene’s tacky glue was used to attach the Flower Soft – Polar White.

Sking Santa

I just love the Santas from Eureka Stamps, they are so much fun and easy to color and cut out for this style of card.

The Santa was colored with Copic Markers: red suit – R29,46,59, face – R20, E00,02, RV00, beard - C00,0,1,2.

Aleene’s tacky glue was used to attach the Flower Soft – Polar White.

Ranger Distress Ink – Tea Dye was used to ink distress the card.

The trees in the background are a die cut from Cuttlebug, I cut the dark grey then the green and sniped off the trunk on the green pieces and glued it to the grey and they are also glued to the card.

The sparkle paper has a plastic coating on it so the glitter doesn’t shed, I tore the edges and curled the corners with my finger then attached to the card with both tape and Aleene’s Paper Glaze because of the plastic coating then ink distressed.

The top panel is mounted on foam tape and Santa is mounted with single layers of thick carpet tape at the bottom and double where it attaches to the light brown cardstock.

Nothing says fall like a pumpkin and QKR Stampede has some really nice images of them. I used the Pumpkin Vine image and colored it in with Copic markers.

I did some faux borders on this card with the light orange and that involves cutting 1/16” strips and gluing them to the card which saved on paper as well and bulk when mailing.

The bottom leaves were cut out and placed on ¼” circles of cardstock that act as my pop dots so they could add a little dimension to the card.

Since part of the designer paper had a red distressed look to it I used Ranger Distress Ink barn red to add distressing to other areas and also antique paper to the image panel and tea dye with the already used red sponge for the Kraft border.

Skating Santa

The card pretty much speaks for itself from viewing it other than you can’t really tell that the house roofs, sky flakes and ground area are glittered using a VersaMark pen and Sticky Powder for adhesive and Crystal Glitter Ritz.

The snowflakes and tiny star on the exclamation mark are glittered paper attached with Aleene’s tacky glue.

Aleene’s tacky glue was also used to attach the Flower Soft Polar White to the fur of Santa’s suit.

Copic markers were used to color the Santa: suit – R89,85,39,46, boot and belt – 100, C7, face – R20,E00,02, hair – C00,0

A very light application of chalks was applied to the house fronts using a blender pen.

Sailboat

I think this card would work for the guys of any age or even a welcome for a new baby boy, the boat is the Biblical Impressions image – 81001 Toy Boat and 91303 Squiggle was used on the bottom edge which also involved the masking technique.

All layers were ink distressed with water based ink.

The stars were cut with the Cuttlebug die Snowflakes and I use a stick pin as my tool and touch it to glue then to the back of the star and it’ll pick it up. I then placed it on the card and press down with the finger as I pull away and then slide it into place if needed.

Same procedure was used to attach the faux brads on the light panel. Those were cut with the Cuttlebug Tiny Tags die and then covered with Aleene’s Paper Glaze to give it that shiny finish.

And for both these shapes I punch ¼” circles of cardstock and place that over the die shape for cutting to save from having a bunch of extra shapes you may never use.

The light panel going across the card was embossed using the Fiskars Ocean plate. I run it through the Cuttlebug using this sandwich stake: A plate, Fiskars plate, two tan mats, B plate.

For the (Really Reasonable Ribbon) baker’s twine I frayed out the ends and tape them to the back to minimize the bulk and it worked real well, I have to remember that for the future!

Torn paper was used to create the waves. The boat was cut out leaving about a 1/32” white border all around.

Copic markers were used for the image coloring: R59,89, B95,97

The embossing folder is from the Cuttlebug Pop Culture set and I scored the lines on each side with the Scor-Pal.

The out of the box feature is very easy by cutting to the image with the regular paper cutter on the front, marking the image on the back while holding to a light source then use the paper cutter again to cut to that mark. Scissor cut the image out. My paper cutter is a guillotine style.

The image panel is popped up with foam tape and here’s a trick for you if the tape is to thick – put it on a non-stick paper like you get stickers or labels on and run it through the Cuttlebug with the C plate a few times and it’ll take the thickness down a bit.

Stampin Up ticket punch was used on the corners and the button brads are from Making Memories.

Gold Leaf on Leaves

I’ve been playing with gold leaf. The images were stamped on the Neenah cardstock with VersaMark ink and I used Sticky Powder to attach the gold leaf to the cardstock then sponged on Ranger Distress Ink – spiced marmalade and a touch of rusty hinge to color the open areas of the image and wiping with a paper towel after the sponging to remove the ink from the gold leaf. I also used a Prismacolor – garden green pencil to add a little green and a Marvy black marker to color the very edge of the cardstock. The leaves are attached with a strip of tape to hold them in place while I dabbed a bit of Aleene’s tacky glue in a few areas.

The Tim Holtz wood grain embossed panel was ink distressed with Ranger – weathered wood. Since it doesn’t emboss the length of the panel I just cut it in two and embossed each piece separate and added some mini brads so it looks like two pieces of wood nailed together.

The embossed lines on the orange and sentiment panels was done with the Scor-Pal. Rusty hinge and weathered wood were used to ink distress these panels.

The sentiment panel was attached with foam squares.

Biblical Impressions Blog Hop - Friendship/Encouragement

Setting up the scene works well when using a stamp positioner and an image sheet for each image and stake them; just make sure you wipe the underside of the sheet to avoid ink smears. After stamping the lighthouse with StazOn – Jet Black I blotted the area for the sentiment so it will be slightly lighter than the remainder of the image so the sentiment stands out.

The cattails were stamped three times using only a partial image for each stamping.

The pine branch was stamped with StazOn – Forest Green and I used a grey pencil to highlight the wood on the branch.

The last stamping is the three birds under the pine branch.

The image is colored with Gallery watercolor pencils making sure the area for the sentiment is much lighter than the remainder of the image.

To give the ground area texture I created grass blades with a straight pencil line creating an arch in some areas.

I used a Signo white gel pen to add foam to the water’s edge; just make dots.

The image panel is popped up with foam squares.

Poinsettia Peace

Copics for coloring the image: R20,22,24, RV00, Y17, G82, YG01,05, E95,97,99

After cutting the image out using scissors and craft knife in between the lines I used a Marvy black marker to color the edge. Next I scored the petal lines with a metal ball stylus and flipped it over and embossed between the lines and edges using a folded paper towel for cushion. It’s mounted to the card with foam squares and I applied Glitter Adhesive and fine glitter to the flower center and on the designer paper, for the flower centers I also colored the glitter with a copic marker once it was dry.

My card for the hop involves a little masking which made my puppy image work for the Christmas holidays. I used a sticky note to create the mask.

Once the images are stamped I used the out of the box technique to cut the panel down. I measured how far I wanted to cut in from the edge on each side and made a pencil mark in two places, lined up a straight edge Coluzzle over the lines and cut avoiding the images. I find it helps to secure the image panel to the pad with repositional tape and use straight pens to hold the Coluzzle in place, just poke it in anywhere there is room or the tape will work also.

Once the panel is cut out I color the very edge of the image portion with a black Marvy marker just so the white doesn’t stand out against the color under it.

The image was colored with Copic markers: gift box – RV00, R29,46,59,89, ribbon – G94,95, YG61,63, tissue – C00,0,1, dog – tongue R22,24, C0, fur C00,0,1,3,5, shading around image – W0,3,5

The image panel is popped up with foam squares.

The sentiment is computer generated in Microsoft Word 2010, let me know if you need directions. It was assembled and attached to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue.

And this is another every day image turned into a Halloween image by adding a sticker witch hat.

I colored the scarf with Copics, and after cutting the image out I colored the cardstock edge with the Marvy black marker.

The border across the card was all from the scrap box except those 1/16" black borders but I have been know to save them and they always get used.

Cute Spiders - is that possible!

Ink distressing was done on all layers and the designer paper has some yellow on it but I did add more here and there.

The green vertical panel was embossed with the Tim Holtz – Gridlock folder.

The spider webs around the edge of the image panel were created with Martha Stewart corner and border punch and I cut them down and glued them on with Aleene’s tacky glue.

Shading for the spiders was done with Copic a marker – C1.

The image panel is popped up with foam squares.

Copic Background

Here is a super simple technique and I really like the fun results, it's really simple, just color in the blocks with Copic markers and drop blending solution onto the panel and if you need a visual tutorial you can see Julia's step by steps by clicking HERE.

Here is K Dunbrook card which inspired me to try the technique.

I did three drops of the Copic blending solution and the rest I did as Karen did and used the Ranger blending solution for alcohol inks, it’s cheaper and works about the same.
I also experimented with regular alcohol, the results are a little different but it did work. I also tried Sharpie markers and alcohol and here's the results of the two. So you’ve got some lead way with supplies in case you don’t own Copics.

My squares were approximately 3/4" and I used a small piece of paper towel to apply the alcohol.

The butterflies were punched using two Martha Stewart punches and I embossed them using a metal ball stylus and folded paper towel for cushion. I score the wing line on the front, flip it over and emboss between the lines and the outer edge and also the center body. They are attached to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue.

The sentiment panel was created with Spellbinder Petite Oval Nestabilities and a QuicKutz label die which I cut in half. I glued them together and to the card.

Mummy Bear

I then flip it over and embossed with a metal ball stylus while lying on a folded paper towel and popped them up on foam squares.

Martha Stewart corner and border punches were used to create the webs.

A Marvy fine tip marker and ruler were used to create the 3 spider’s web line.

Mare and Foal

I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils: horses - black, cool grey 20%, yellow ochre, Tuscan red, terra cotta, grass – olive and kelp green, shading around horses cool grey 50%, cloud blue then I used an ordinary graphite pencil and drew the freehand distant ground and mountains, the green grass is freehand also – not a part of the image.

The Flourish Frame embossing folder from Cuttlebug was used for the embossing design. I sponged the embossing to make it stand out and also to cover some white that appeared from the embossing.

The nailheads are attached with Aleene’s Paper Glaze (any lacquer product will work). To make the process fast and easy I squeeze a drop of lacquer onto a waxed paper (I repurpose the paper that stickers and labels are purchased on), touch the end of a large corsage pin to the lacquer then to the back of the embellishment which picks it up, position it on the card and press down with a finger, there is a little time to slide the embellishment into position if needed before it sticks tight.

The image panel and borders are mounted to the card with foam squares.

This is a card front for the image company to use for card displays at shows…or I’d do an envelope and insert.

My overstitching effect was done with the Scor-Pal and a metal ball stylus.

The nailheads from Tetes de clous were attached with Aleene’s Paper Glaze.

They are supposed to be stickers however they never come off with the sticky goo or without it showing around the nailhead on the card.

The Stampin Up photo corner punch and Square Lattice embossing folder were used for the corner feature.

Sunflowers

The image is colored with Copic markers: G82,85,94,99, E21,25,27,29, W0,1,3,5,7, B91,93

The layout worked well for the larger image and I really like the Pointed Flowers border punch from EK Success with it also. To dress up those punched flowers I die cut the circles using the Cuttlebug Asterisk die and glued them to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue then applied Paper Glaze to give it shiny finish.

The scor lines at the top of the image panel were done with the Scor-Pal.

The baker’s twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon was wrapped around the card front twice before tying.

The base brown and punched dark yellow were stamped with a small background image that is about a 2” square and I stamp the image, masked off the edge with a post it note and continue this procedure until the area is completed.

So many viewers have asked where's the envelope so I thought I should note that this will be a show display card front only for the company, we earn new images with card fronts...what great deal! I love working for this company, it's owned by a super nice lady!

A Patriotic Pup

All I have left of this paper pack is smaller pieces so the blocking worked well here and I used one of my favorite layouts for blocking with patterned paper.

I stamped the image with Versa Mark in the past on a semi glossy cardstock but never used it until now. I was very careful to color it with Copic and keep the two from mixing and becoming muddy and I liked the results of the marker ink on the glossier cardstock which doesn’t show real well in the photo but in real life it’s sketchy looking.

The tiny stars are cut with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes die and when since I wanted only the star off the die I first punched the cardstock with a ¼” circle punch, placed it over the star and made the cut.

The larger stars are cut using a Fiskars punch and they are all assembled and attached to the card with Aleene’s tacky glue. I pick up the small stars with a stick dipped in glue, touch the back and it picks it up then I put it in position press down with the finger and pull the pin away then slide it into place if needed.

This is a card front which will be sent to the company for show displays so that’s why you don’t see an envelope!

Ink distressing was done on the purple and green borders and also the sentiment panel.

The image panel was created with masking and sponging.

The corner web is from a Martha Stewart punch.

The brad mates are a circle die from QuicKutz…I got it new for a whole dollar! I love those resale events.

The bats buttons were a gift so I don’t the company name. I sewed them to the panel with needle and thread and the ends were taped to the back of the panel instead of using a knot.

Silver Bells

The full image is stamped and cut out, and then the ribbon was cut away from the bell.

The ribbon portion of the image was stamped on velvet paper and cut out just inside the line then glued on the first stamped piece for stability.

The bell portion was stamped a second time on good cardstock, cut out and colored with Copic markers (R24,27,29,35,39, C1,2,3,5) then glued onto the first stamped piece. I also layered one piece each of the grey and velvet under the bell so both ribbon and bell are at the same height/level when joined together.

The felt paper strip was pierced on each side. Before I attached it to the card I embossed two lines on each side using the Scor-Pal.

Happy Fall

The leaves were heavily colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with the blender pencil. Colors: dark green, crimson lake, sunburst yellow, golden rod

The leaves were embossed by marking the vein lines on the front with the small metal ball stylus and when flipped over I then embossed that same line and the areas between the lines, folded paper towel was used for a cushion. I used a Marvy black marker to color the very edge of the cardstock and they are attached to the card with foam pop dots.

The Tim Holtz clear ruler was used for the piercing guide on the green, that panel is also embossed using the Fiskars Leather plate and the Cuttlebug.

The border is punched with EK Success Fleur de lis border punch.

The stamped leaves on the card base, envelope and insert were stamped with the aid of a stamp positioner.

Butterflies

To emboss the image panel which will show up best in the close up photo, I placed the cardstock panel on the embossing folder and used a metal ball stylus to rub all the open areas between the butterflies. I secured the panel to the folder with repositional tape to avoid movement.
Panel used was Tim Holtz – Gridlock.

The Cuttlebug Vintage set was used to create the corner features by cutting both colors and interchanging the pieces. Tape was applied to the back so the pieces would stick when inserted and that also aided with attaching it to the card, some dots of Aleene’s tacky glue was also used.

QuicKutz die and Nestabilities were used for the sentiment panel and I also made use of the tiny circles from the corner die, these were attached easily with a long stick pin touched in glue then to the back of the circle which picks it up, place on the card, press down with the finger and pull away, slide into place if needed. Aleene’s Paper Glaze was applied to create a shiny finish.

I stamped an extra bottom right butterfly and embossed it by debossing the outline on the front, flip it over and emboss between the debossed lines while it lies on folded paper towel for cushion.

The image scene was created with the masking (using rone edged paper) and sponging techniques on a full piece of cardstock which I had marked with pencil to know where the edge of each panel would be afte the cuts were made. Once completed the scene I made the cuts removing 1/8" sections in two places, this keeps you image from being distorted when splitting the panel.

Ink: Ranger Distress Ink scattered straw, dried marigold, spiced marmalade, forest moss
Forest moss was applied to cover the complete ground area and then double applied on lower portion even darker.
These inks stay wet longer and if applied heavy enough they spread throughout the cardstock as they dry giving it a smooth blend, (this may depend on the cardstock, mine is smooth flat finish).

The moon was masked off with a sticky note die cut when sponging and when the mask was removed I used an almost dry sponge to tone down the white.

Signo white gel pen was used to add highlights to the tree which are on the image but get covered with the sponging.

The faux brads were cut with smaller circle in the Cuttlebug Asterisk die set of four. They are glued to the card with Aleene's tacky glue and Paper Glaze was applied to create a shiny finish, I did the same with the buckle cut from an EK Success punch.

The ribbon is wrapped completely around the card front, laced through the buckle and stitched with needle and thread to hold it in place. I also used Memory Zots/sticky goo dots to hold it to the card under the buckle and also on the inside.

The envelope and insert were also sponged using the masking technique.

Leaves

The background and leaves were created with Ranger alcohol inks.
Colors: background – Denim, Eggplant, Meadow, blending solution, left leaf – Cranberry, Butterscotch, center leaf – Oregano, Lettuce, right leaf – Sunset Orange, Sunshine Yellow

A Marvy black marker was used to color the very edge of the leaves.

The two outside leaves are attached to the card with tape and Aleene’s tacky glue with a built up (1/2 circle from 1” punch) attached to the card for the overhang to rest on, the center green leaf is mounted on foam tape.

The edge of the alcohol background panel was prepared larger than the size needed so there was room to tear the edge before cutting with a straight edge cutter.

The insert leaves were punched from the left over scraps using a Martha Stewart punch.

The envelope was a partial image stamped along the edge and only goes as far as what you can see in the photo.

A Fall Hello

Here’s I a real simple card to put together.

I used Copic markers to color the image: pumpkins YR02,04,07,09, stems B21,31, G82, pillar W0,1, corn stalks YR23, YG93,95, E31,42, mums B08,95, YR23, YG61,63,67 pot E09 covered with BG15,18, lantern C0,1,2,3,5,7, Y13,15, ground foliage 0, G09,28,29, Y15, porch floor and rails W0,3,5,7, chain C1,2,3, Swing C0,1

Prismacolor pencils were used to color the punched leaves and I embossed them with a metal ball stylus and folded paper towel for cushion. They are glued to the Stampin Up sentiment ovals with Aleene's tacky glue.

Aleene's Paper Glaze was used to attach the nailheads.

The sentiment panel is popped up with foam squares.

An EK Success punch was used to round the corners...and oops, I forgot to round the designer paper corners before attaching to the card so I used the negative portion of the punch out and glued that to the corners and no one will ever notice but I thought I was pretty clever!

I printed the digital image to measure 3 1/8" x 1 7/16".

Native American Pottery

The image was cut out of the box to add a bit of interest to the card. I cut to the image on the front, flip it over and hold it to light source and mark the image line with pencil on the back and cut to that line. This doesn’t work for all cutters but it’s great a guillotine style cutter.

Copic markers were used for coloring: B00,02,04, E08,09,97, Special Black 110.

The top and sides were embossed using the Cuttlebug folder Pop Culture and this was also done at the bottom of the envelope and insert along with two score lines using the Scor-Pal.

The image panel with borders is mounted to the card with foam squares.

Hanging On

Card Size: 4 5/8” x 6 ¼”

The background was created with torn papers, sponge and distress inks from Ranger: Barn Red was applied at the bottom of the sky level; next application was Worn Lipstick, and then Spiced Marmalade. I finished off with more Barn Red around the edges and rubbed an almost dry sponge of Barn Red over the lighter colors.

The ground is masked off at the bottom and at sky level to sponge on Pine Needles then I removed the mask and sponged on more of the same color so it would come out lighter and achieve a depth. A very light sponging of Black Soot was also applied on the edges.

The haunted house is from QuicKutz, I cut a full piece in black then placed small pieces of white over the window and front porch opening of the die and cut. These pieces were inserted in the opening and attached on the back with single sided tape. They are colored with Copic markers: Y13,17,19. They were applied in the order listed starting at the bottom,13 was applied a second time to blend all the colors together.

The tree comes with the haunted house. I used the Black Soot to ink distress and a metal ball stylus to deboss to resembled bark.

The fence and bats are Martha Stewart punches.

The bats were scored on the front with the metal ball stylus then embossed on the back side between the lines using a metal ball stylus and folded paper towel for cushion.

All punch outs and die cuts were attached with Aleene’s tacky glue.

The witch is not having a good day but at least she’s hangin on! I stamped it with Memento – Tuxedo black, then masked off the rubber over the witch and stamped again with Brilliance Moonlight White then heat embossed with white sparkle powder and touched up in a couple areas with the Signo white gel pen.

Here's a view of the inside. The moon and witch image was stamped off on scrap paper before stamping the insert so it would purposely be faded out.

And here's a view of the envelope, which isn't real fancy and very easy to create. I made a stencil of the tree and bats out of scrap paper, sponged on the tree first then placed the batsusing the Black Soot ink. Then I stamped the moon and witch with the same in.
