Leaves, outlines & colorful

I'll show two ways to use the leaf image with the masking technique and these cards are as colorful as Tom Turkey's tail feathers.
I cut my mask from a sticky note and I always store them to use multiple times; in the container with the image or in a binder inside a clear plastic sheet protector.

For both cards I used only one leaf mask and a stamp positioner for lining up to the previously stamped leaf.

Colorful Outlines
-This card is very quick to create. The first step was to print Happy Autumn onto the card front using a computer.

-Image Panel: The red leaf was the first image stamped and then it was masked off to stamp the green and orange images on both sides.
Next the mask was moved to the orange leaf so the yellow image could be stamped and so on until the panel is full.

-All layers were ink distressed with a sponge.

-Faux layers: This appears to be a five layers but the green and orange are my faux layers which are 1/16” strips cut and glued to the card to help avoid bulk and it saves paper too.  I have a metal tip on my glue bottle that allows a fine line to be applied to the card so it doesn't warp the cardstock.
I found this product in the department for painting on glass at the craft store
(Joann).  A stainless steel pin (so it doesn't rust) plugs the nozzle when not in use.

Stamps: QKR Stampede - 3901 Leaf
Paper: Stampin Up – garden green, The Paper Company – yellow, orange, unknown dark tan
Ink: Stampin Up: Classic – real red, garden green, summer sun, only orange, Ranger: Distress Ink – tea dye, vintage photo
Accessories: Forever in Time – bards, Aleene’s tacky glue
Tools: computer, sponge, Martha Stewart border punch, Stampin Up mat pack, Bazzill piercer for brads, stamp positioner, sticky note for mask
Techniques: Masking, ink distressing, faux borders

Colors of Fall
This is the same leaf image and the same technique for masking and stamping as the card above but what a difference color can make and it's my favorite of the two!

-Prismacolor pencils, baby oil and paper stumps were used to color the image using the Gamsol technique. Baby oil replaces the Gamsol/mineral spirits.

-To cut the panel out I used a Coluzzle craft knife and template to cut from leaf to leaf then cut the image out with scissors.

-I used a black marker to color the cardstock edge of the images that are out of the box.

-I pierced a line across the top and bottom of the image panel.

-The yellow embossed panel was ink distressed to tone down the color.

Hi Roxie! I love both cards, but the last one has so much depth and is realistic looking. Your layering is great, and of course your coloring is out of this world!

Hugs, Pat

Ah, yes, they're both pretty in their own right, but I'll agree that I love the same one you do a bit better -- guess "color" always wins out in the end. Great adaptation of the same image - amazing the different "look" you can get.

Faux matting is such a great way to use up scraps, too, tho I confess to being lazy more than once and using quilling strips. The out of the box technique does so much for the card! Thanks for posting the "Out of the Box with Nestibilities" tutorial. So kind of you to share your talents.
